Malnutrition is a serious condition that affects millions of individuals across the nation. Throughout the month of October, Maverick County Hospital District will raise awareness of malnutrition and promote the crucial role of registered dietitian nutritionists in identifying and treating this condition.
The goal of Malnutrition Awareness Week (Oct 5-9) is to educate healthcare professionals to identify and treat for malnutrition earlier, educate consumers/patients to discuss their nutrition status with healthcare professionals, and to increase awareness of nutrition’s role on patient recovery.
The MCHD Diabetes Self Management Education Program offers anyone with diabetes educational classes to assist them in better control of their disease and also combat malnutrition.
The Diabetes Education Program’s main goal is to ensure that each person served by the MCHD program has appropriate information regarding diabetes and other nutrition-related illnesses.
MCHD Registered Dietician Nutritionist LD Manrique Fuentes and staff are ready to provide the assistance which will allow the individual to participate and take charge of their individual care.
The MCHD Diabetes Self Management Program accepts private insurance, Medicare and self-pay.
