Board Certified Orthopedic Surgeon Andre L. Thomas, MD has been with Maverick County Hospital District’s Physician Specialty Group since 2017. For the past three years, Dr. Thomas has assisted and treated hundreds of patients who have suffered a sports injury, bone fractures, and other orthopedic issues.
Dr. Thomas attended and graduated from the University Of Illinois At Chicago Health Science Center in 2002, and has over 18 years of diverse experience with multiple certifications, honors, and awards for his accomplishments in his field of medical practice. He is currently licensed to practice medicine in Texas and Florida.
Dr. Thomas specializes in the treatment and prevention of injuries related to sports and exercise such as knee pain and tears, fractures, sprains, strains, and dislocations. Sports medicine specialists treat a wide range of these physical conditions including chronic overuse injuries, including degenerative diseases, tendinitis and over-training syndrome, among other physical activity related injuries.
Dr. Thomas’ wealth of knowledge and experience in his field have helped patients in our community receive advanced treatment that was previously unavailable in the region, and has made it easy for those who have suffered from sports injuries to start working on recovery without having to travel out of town to get the support they need.
Back in 2017 Dr. Thomas was part of a milestone for our community as he performed Fort Duncan Regional’s first-ever endoscopic carpal tunnel release surgery. He also conducted the hospital’s first-ever arthroscopic (minimally invasive) rotator cuff and labral repairs to treat conditions of the shoulder.
Dr. Thomas has been a valuable asset to our medical community since his arrival, and take this time to to acknowledge his service to our families.
