MCHD is here to celebrate the annual Teen Pregnancy Prevention Month this May! Many teens choose to leave preventing pregnancy to chance. By assisting teenagers to comprehend the importance of making decisions in regards to preventing pregnancy is a way of assuming responsibility of their future.
Maverick County had one of the highest rates of teen births not only in the state but in the country as well. We have responded to the problem by establishing the TEEN PREGNANCY PREVENTION PROGRAM. The sole purpose of the program was to raise awareness of the social and health impact teen pregnancy could bring.
Since then, we have witnessed a decrease in teen pregnancies in our community therefore. We are committed to raise awareness to our youth from becoming a statistic that could affect their health as well as their lives.
