MCHD Spotlight – February 2020: Dr. Lon Walder

During American Heart Month, Maverick County Hospital District observes the importance of heart health and focuses on raising awareness to help our families and individuals prevent heart disease. Our organization also highlights the services and career of Dr. Lon Walder – DO, Interventional Cardiologist.

Interventional Cardiologist Dr. Lon Walder joined the Maverick County Hospital District in 2018 and has been instrumental in providing Cardiovascular Disease medical treatment to community residents.

Dr. Walder is a United States Army Veteran with over 30 years of experience as an instructor and clinician with emphasis on Interventional and General Cardiology.

Dr. Walder graduated from Oklahoma College Of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in 1986. Since then, he has been specializing in cardiology and prepared to deliver most all modalities of cardiology such as diagnostic caths, nuclear tests, balloon angioplasties, and pacemaker implantations.

Dr. Walder was also very instrumental in the MCHD and FDRMC opening the community’s firstCardiac Catheterization Laboratory back in February 2019.
