During National Hispanic Heritage Month, our nation observes the importance and contributions of Hispanics and Latin Americans in our community. Maverick County Hospital District is proud to be composed of many Hispanic members who have contributed to our community and achieved positive changes for our citizens throughout their careers.
Today, we want to honor the career of Maverick County Hospital District Board of Trustee Adolfo Olivares Jr.
Mr. Olivares has dedicated his life to improving and assisting our community through an impactful and eclectic public service career as a member of various organizations in Eagle Pass.
For 37 years, Mr. Olivares proudly shaped the lives of former students as an educator for the Eagle Pass Independent School District – 17 of those years as a school principal.
Throughout this time, Mr. Olivares expanded his work and contributions by serving in a variety of prominent positions for the City of Eagle Pass. He honorably served as Director of Parks and Recreation, Assistant City Manager, and as a City Council Member.
In 2016, Mr. Olivares entered the healthcare field as an appointed member of Maverick County Hospital District’s Board of Trustees, filling an unexpired term. He was officially elected as a member in November 2018, and served as Chairman of the Board. His impact as a member has been significant, as he has worked in collaboration with his MCHD Board colleagues and Administrators to advance on their mission to bring high-quality healthcare to the citizens of the community.
“I believe we must continue to work together as Board of Trustees, along with Maverick County Hospital District’s Administration,” Mr. Olivares states. “We must protect and safeguard our taxpayers’ money as we continue to bring the needed specialists and improve our medical services to our community.”
Mr. Olivares recently played a significant role in Maverick County Hospital District’s successful effort to expand the Primary Care Services Clinic by extending the existing office building – a key course of action to meeting the demand of a rapidly-growing community.
A member of Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church, Mr. Olivares has been proudly married for 51 years, and is humbled to be the father of five children and grandfather to eight grandchildren.
