Preparing For Fall Seasonal Changes & Illnesses

The first days of autumn are upon us, and our team at Maverick County Hospital District wants to advise our community to be ready for the seasonal changes.

During this time, certain illnesses become more prevalent. Some of these include seasonal flu, seasonal allergies, and asthma.

Seasonal flu, the most common of these illnesses, is spread from person to person. People with flu can spread it to others up to six feet away, mainly by flu coughs, sneezes, or talk. People with flu are most contagious in the first three or four days after the illness begins, though children may pass the virus for longer than seven days.

The best way to protect against the season flu is to vaccinate every year.
