World AIDS Day

In December, is World AIDS Day, a day to unite in the fight to end the HIV epidemic, support people living with HIV, and honor those who have lost their lives.

During this time organizations across the world focus on awareness on the chronic, potentially life-threatening condition caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV).

Through its Ryan White Program, Maverick County Hospital District joins in on those efforts to bring attention to HIV, increases its awareness and knowledge, speaks out against its stigma, and calls for an increased response to move toward ending the disease.

This year we focus on the global commitment to deliver quality, people-centered HIV prevention and treatment services for impact, strengthening the capacity and resilience of communities and health systems to address HIV prevention services in the midst of a global pandemic.

While COVID-19 has created major new challenges, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and its partners remain committed to accelerating efforts to end the HIV Epidemic.

The Ryan White/HIV Social Services Programs are state and federally funded and were established to improve the quality and availability of care for low-income, uninsured and under insured individuals and families affected by the HIV/AIDS disease.

If you have any questions or want to set up an appointment with the MCHD Ryan White Program you can contact them at (830) 757-4937 (830) 757-4901.
