National Child Abuse Prevention Month

National Child Abuse Prevention Month is an annual observance in the United States dedicated to raising awareness and preventing child abuse. April has been designated Child Abuse Prevention Month in the United States since 1983.

With over seven million children in Texas, the safety net to protect children and help them reach their greatest potential begins at home and includes family, neighbors, schools, and communities.

Maverick County Hospital District recognizes that it is through community partnerships and efforts that we can protect children from harm by providing a complete continuum of prevention and intervention programs.

During the month of April, the Federal Government points its efforts to end child maltreatment.

This month, we make a call to our citizens to be a voice for the victims of maltreatment and abuse, and ask everyone in our community to report any child abuse and maltreatment incident that they see or know about. Let us give these children a voice through prevention efforts before tragedy strikes.

If you know someone who might be in danger of child abuse, please contact us at (830) 757-4900 or (830) 757-4901.
