November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month and Maverick County Hospital District is raising awareness of the need for more research and better community awareness of this disease.
Through efforts such as the American Lung Association’s LUNG FORCE initiative which unites women and their loved ones across the country to stand together against lung cancer — the #1 cancer killer of women and men in the U.S. — we can raise critical awareness about lung cancer and turn the tide against this disease.
Lung Cancer causes more deaths each year than prostate, breast, colon, and ovarian cancers together.
It is the most common form of cancer found in men, and the fifth most common for women.
At MCHD, our Oncology/ Hematology Department provides crucial services to community residents on a daily basis.
In 2016, Dr. Eduardo Miranda, MD joined our fight and is committed in helping community residents in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer and blood diseases such as anemia, leukemia, , lymphoma and myeloma.
