A Message From Our Physician Assistants Regarding COVID-19

Maverick County Hospital District’s Isela Segura, PA-C and Elizabeth Alamillo, PA-C, informed that due to State of Texas regulations and limited quantities of COVID-19 tests, the community is being asked not to request clinics and hospitals for a test if he/she does not have any symptoms related to the virus. The symptoms include fever, cough, and shortness of breath.

Though they will not be denied a test, the regulations indicate that only those with possible exposure to the virus should be tested.

MCHD recommends citizens to stay at home and self-quarantine for 14 days, avoid contact with anyone, and to consume Vitamin C liquids, such as strawberries and oranges. Additionally, smoking should be avoided and it is recommended to exercise, either inside the house or in the backyard. If health conditions worsen, call a doctor or visit a healthcare center.

Finally, Ms. Segura and Ms. Alamillo ask the community to follow local, state, and federal regulations and restrictions in order to contain the virus and maintain the health and wellness of our community.
