Groundbreaking for Cancer Treatment Center held Thurs.

Maverick County cancer patients will be able to breathe a sigh of relief when the opening of the Maverick County Hospital District Cancer Center where chemotherapy can and will be available in Eagle Pass.

The building will count on 3,500 square feet of space with 15 available chemo session lounge chairs at various stations will be available at one time as well as two private rooms for private chemotherapy sessions.

In the same facility a theatre for diabetes education and guidance will be available for the families of patients and for diabetes patients in general due to the fact that there are so many people in Eagle Pass with the disease.

It will also include a small conference room for meetings or press conferences.

Elcira Bares, Hospital Administrator informed The News Gram that the investment would run the Hospital District about $450,000.00 and Yates Construction will be the company in charge of building the facility with a time frame of four months.

The facility will be a welcome alternative for the families of cancer patients who will no longer need to make those long trips out of town to receive therapy.
